This palette caught my eye because it is full of warm shades that will keep me happy all-year round and for every occasion; the matte to shimmer ratio is very practical, there are plenty of safer more 'everyday' neutral shades, but there are lovely bolder colour pops too, in my favourite shadow shades [pinky reds and orange]. The shadows all have fantastic pigmentation, everything is easy to blend & build up, and there's no heavy shimmer/glitter that doesn't adhere to skin and goes everywhere, plus everything is crease & fade resistant. I've not had any issues with shades muddying together or oxidizing to feedback - I believe those problems are being caused by people applying too much product and/or overblending the soft shadows. Speaking of soft shadow; there is kick-up with most of the shades in this palette when I dip my brushes into the pans, but that is something that never really bothers me as long as the powders apply and perform well, which these do. I can't think of any complaints or niggles with Modern Renaissance mini.

Perfect palette

I always gravitate to cool toned or neutral, smaller format palettes. I nearly picked up Sultry instead but am so pleased I took a chance on this one. The colors are more flattering for my light skin/blueish-green eyes. I agree with another reviewer that the brown could be deeper, but there isn't a dud shadow in the bunch. I never bought the full size, so I can't compare the shades to it. I will say that the mattes are kind to eyes of a certain age, and the one shimmer (center top) is a gorgeous topper. This is perfect for travel -- it is small but not tiny. You do get kick back and need to tap off your brush. I have purchased so many small ND palettes, and the shades are just off for me. This is perfect.

No Venetian Red

Been waiting for this product to launch for years and am devastated they decided not to include the shade Venetian Red from the original full size palette. It's just no good without that beautiful pop of red to me. Looks like any other basic eyeshadow palette, boring, dull.
